Our Animals

Dark Sky Retreat is home to a number of rescue goats, chickens and sheep, as well as ducks, peacocks and our own two cats and two dogs. All of our animals are very friendly and guests are welcome to meet and interact with them! Please see below for a brief who's who!

Goats

Bertie

Boss goat.

Bertie is very friendly and good with people, but he's probably just after your food!

Sheep

NOTE: Although our sheep are very friendly, they can sometimes view small children as other sheep and may try to butt them. For this reason we ask guests to not enter the sheep's field with children under 12.

Sula

Sula is the smallest of the three sheep. She usually keeps her distance and is very athletic, and has been known to jump the occasional fence for greener grass!

Chickens

All of our chickens are free roaming and the majority are ex battery farm hens. They often arrive in a terrible condition without feathers, but are soon back up to full health and enjoying their best chicken life!

Our chickens provide a steady supply of freshly laid eggs, which we usually provide to our guests!
